Create a card just like handmade valentine card ideas: “Soul Mates”
I created this card this past valentines day of 2009. I was asked by many to create valentine cards for them to display and put up for sale and this handmade valentine card ideas was one of them. It was actually one of the first cards I made that could tie and untie like a journal. Interesting huh?, many asked me how did you do that?, well I’m about to tell you… This card looks hard, but really it’s fast, cheap and simple to make and it has a great look and feel to it. Believe it or not, it was the first card to be sold. So let’s create this special handmade valentine card idea and I bet once you show it to friends and family members, they will be like, I’ve never taught of that. Use this idea not only for valentines, but incorporate it in many other occasion cards that you like create.
Tip: If you would like to create a similar card like this but for him switch off the colors and create it using a mans theme… like blue, black, red, white and green

and cut out an inner hole
Step by step on how to create handmade valentine card idea soul mates Front:
- First take your decorated polka dot paper or any other decorated paper you decided to use and cut it so it fits over the entire front of
your card stock. Then glue it down. - Next take your vellum sayings cut them out with your scissors or decorative scissors and glue “Soul mates” on the top and hand in hand heart to heart on the bottom of your card stock.
- Notice that under Soul Mates there are two large circles one in pink and the other in yellow. They came like that as a vellum. If you are customizing your own cut out two large circles one in pink and one in yellow and paste it on your card stock then place the saying on top of it. Make sure to glue everything down.
- Next we are going to punch two holes on the right side of the card. If you don’t have a hole puncher, I mentioned above you can use a scissors to make one. Just draw the size of the holes and take your scissors, make a slit in the middle then cut out the inner part. Make sure the holes are on both front and back of the cards.
- Then cut a long piece of ribbon and lace it threw from back to front. So you take one end and from back to front lace that end throw the first hole and then take the other end and lacing it from back to front through the bottom hole.
- Now you have both ends on the front of your card. Make sure it is lace so you can tie a a bow on the front of the card. Refer to photo above if you get stuck.
- But don’t tie it just yet. We have to decorate the inside first.
How to create handmade valentine card ideas soul mates inside:
Unfortunate I forgot to take a photo of the inside of this card. I do apologize. It was bad on my part, but I am sure you have a creative mind and you too will be able to create the inside of this card really beautifully.
- All I did was take your plain white paper and oink paper. Cut the white paper to the fit of the inside of your card stock and glued it down.
- Then I took the pink piece of paper and cut it to fit on the inside of the white paper leaving some white space as a border and then I glued it down.
Tip: Keep in mind you can use your decorative or regular scissors to do your cutting. Also you can add embellishments to the inside of your card or use a rubber stamp and stamp heart. These are just some suggestions.
When you are done creating your card don’t forget to tie your ribbon into a bow and seal the card!
Step by step on how to create this homemade valentine envelope:

- Using the same ribbon, take your envelope and use your ribbon to measure how long from the behind of the envelope, around the
front and back to the behind again before making a final cut. When I state behind I start at the back of the envelope where the flap comes down around the front and stop on the other side. If you get confused just take a long piece of ribbon and cut it from one end to the other to fit only the front of the envelope. - Then use a heart cut out, a stamp or embellishment and decorate the bottom right corner of your envelope. That’s it!
